Each and every person is a unique and beautiful individual, created by God, and designed to be in a relationship with Him and with others. Because I believe this, I see my role as counselor as one who helps another person sort through anything that stands in the way of them fully experiencing this love and relationship. What a great privilege to be allowed to partner with another person in the pursuit of healthy relationships.
Counseling is my second career. Before I had children, I worked as a middle school teacher in California and Texas. As I listened to the kids' daily stories of both the good and the bad in life, I was drawn to the idea of becoming a counselor at some point in my life. Then 13 years later, as my youngest son began school, I decided it was time. I was privileged to be able to study at and work for the Center for Play Therapy at the University of North Texas, under the direction of Dr. Garry Landreth and Dr. Sue Bratton. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, and Nationally Certified Counselor. I live in McKinney with my husband, Lindy, and two youngest sons, Grant and Preston. My oldest stepson, Toby, lives close by with his wife, Kate, and daughter, Kristen. The next oldest, Dustin, lives in California. In my free time I enjoy volunteering at my boys' schools, hanging out with friends and family, participating in Bible study, reading, skiing, and traveling. I am always trying to grow as an individual, a wife, a mother, a friend and a daughter. In that way, I am on a similar journey as you. If I can help you along the way, it would be an honor and a blessing.
